How many tiles do I need?
Area-based estimate: 10 % is common for a straight lay, 15 % for diagonal or awkward rooms. It ignores how cuts actually fall, which only a layout plan shows.

Consumption depends mostly on the trowel notch and back-buttering. Pick the notch; the calculator rounds up to full bags.

How much tile adhesive do I need?
Trowel figures are orders of magnitude (6 mm ≈ 3 kg/m², 10 mm ≈ 5 kg/m²). The data sheet of your adhesive takes precedence.

The manufacturer formula applied to your tile: kilograms of grout per m² and number of bags.

How much grout do I need?
Manufacturer formula: (L + W) ÷ (L × W) × joint width × depth × 1.6. Add a small reserve for cleaning losses.

How do I work out how many tiles I need?
Divide the area to tile by the area of one tile, add 10 % for a straight lay (15 % for diagonal), then round up to full boxes. For 20 m² of 60 × 60 tiles: 20 × 1.10 ÷ 0.36 = 62 tiles.
How much area does a 25 kg bag of tile adhesive cover?
About 8 m² with a 6 mm notch (3 kg/m²), 6 m² with an 8 mm notch (4 kg/m²) and 5 m² with a 10 mm notch (5 kg/m²). Back-buttering reduces coverage further.
How much grout do I need for 10 m²?
It depends on the tile size: with 60 × 60 tiles, a 3 mm joint and 9 mm thick tiles, about 1.5 kg; with 30 × 30 tiles, about 3 kg. Smaller tiles mean more joint per square metre.
Results are estimates based on common practice. The data sheets of your tiles and installation products take precedence, and measurements taken on site are the reference.
